1. Buhari Meets With Security Chiefs In Aso Rock

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday met with Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Those also at the meeting were the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) Yusuf Magaji Bichi, among others. Although details were not disclosed, the meeting is, however, believed to be in reaction to the recent attacks and killing of soldiers by Boko Haram insurgents Borno state..

2. No Proof That Atiku Is Corrupt – Prof. Sagay

Prof Itse Sagay says there is no proof that the Presidential candidate of the opposition PDP, Atiku Abubakar is corrupt. Answering questions on the possibility of Abubakar being corrupt during an interview with The Sun newspaper, Sagay said despite the allegation that the PDP Presidential is corrupt, the Federal Government has not been able to provide any proof that the Wazirin Adamawa is truly corrupt as touted.

3. Nigerians Have No Better Alternative To Atiku – Tukur

Former National Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and African Business Roundtable Forum, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, says “Nigerians have no better alternative to Atiku’s presidency.” Tukur made this comments on Saturday in Yola after he endorsed the candidature of former Vice President and PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

4. Ganduje Says Calls For Oshiomhole’s Sack Unnecessary

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has stated that plans by aggrieved of the APC to sack the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, is unnecessary. Speaking at APC stakeholders meeting in Kano, the governor insisted that the sole concern of party members should be how to emerge victorious in the forthcoming 2019 general election.

6. Serap Asks Buhari To Probe Military Spendings

The Socio-economic Rights and Accountability Project (Serap) has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to quickly set up a commission of inquiry to investigate the spending of military budgets between 1999 and 2018. Serap said an investigation into the budgets would promote transparency and accountability in the country’s military.

7. Confront Boko Haram Like A General, Okupe Tells Buhari

Former Presidential Media aide Doyin Okupe has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle Boko Haram terrorist like a general and not like a pastor. He was reacting to a statement by Buhari over the recent killing of 44 soldiers in the Northeast. Reacting, Okupe urged Buhari to stop prophesying over the killings by Boko Haram and take charge.

8. I Did Not Defect To APC – Senator Akpabio

The Senator representing Akwa Ibom North-West at the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, says he did not defect to the APC but only moved to the ruling party. Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, said he was surprised that the same people who founded the ruling party were the ones pulling it down.

9. Award-Winning Nigerian Poet Ikeogu Oke Dies

The winner of the 2017 NLNG-sponsored Nigerian Prize for literature, Ikeogu Oke, has passed away. The award-winning Nigerian poet died at the National Hospital in Abuja after a protracted illness. He was 51. The deceased, who is graduated with a BA in English and literary studies from the University of Calabar and an MA in literature from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, performed his poems at various fora in Nigeria, South Africa and the United States.

Nigeria coach Thomas Dennerby has said he maintained his strategy for the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in spite of his team’s shocking defeat to South Africa in Group B opener.
