1- What Igbo Leaders Told Buhari after Atiku’s Endorsement

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday said some well-meaning Igbo leaders asked him to disregard southeast leaders’ backing of ex-vice-president Atiku Abubakar for Nigeria’s highest office in 2019. But in what appears to be a lack of cohesion among Igbo leaders as regards the choice of Atiku, Buhari said he was not surprised.

2- Ohanaeze Denies Endorsing Atiku Abubakar

Ohanaeze Ndigbo has dismissed reports that it had adopted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its candidate for the 2019 presidential election. This followed the endorsement of the Presidential flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu during the gathering of Igbo leaders on Wednesday.

3- Biafra: Kanu Vows To Expose ‘Nigerian Ruling Cabal’ today

The self-acclaimed leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has vowed to expose the ‘dirty work’ of the Nigerian ruling cabal. Kanu, who resurfaced in Jerusalem, Israel on October 19 after the military invasion of his community in Abia state, made this vow on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Friday.

4- Governors Accepted To Pay N30,000 Minimum Wage, Says NLC

President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Ayuba Wabba on Friday warned state governors against their refusal to pay the proposed national minimum wage of N30,000. Speaking to journalists on Friday in Ekiti state, Wabba insisted that there was no going back on the N30,000 as against the existing N18,000. He said that governors had no reason to decline to pay the wage, adding that they (governors) were part of the decision-making process.

5- Christian Leaders Visit Buhari, Demand El-Zakzaky’s Release

President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Reverend Samson Ayokunle on Friday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to release the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky. The cleric made the request when he led a delegation of the Christian body to the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

6- Dariye Gets 14 Years Jail Term Reduced To Ten

The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, on Friday reduced the sentence of 14 years’ imprisonment passed on a former Governor of Plateau State Joshua Dariye earlier this year to 10 years. In its judgment, the Court held that the maximum sentence of 14 years for the counts was excessive especially because the appellant is a first-time offender Justice Stephen Adah, who read the unanimous judgment of the three-man panel, also quashed the sentence in count 12.

7- Court Reduces Nyame’s 14 Years Jail Term, Adds N525m Fine

The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, on Friday, reduced the 14-year sentence imposed on former Taraba state governor Jolly Nyame earlier this year, to 12 years. In its judgment, the court, in addition to the 12 years sentence, also imposed a fine of N525m on the convict, a fine which a lower court had omitted while dispensing the earlier sentence.

8- Court Backs President Buhari’s Position As Minister of Petroleum

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday ruled that President Muhammadu Buhari did not violate the constitution by merely proclaiming that he is the Minister of Petroleum. Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Dr. Olisa Agbakoba had filed the case to determine the constitutional qualification of the President of Nigeria also holding office as the Minister of Petroleum.

9- South Africa vs Nigeria: Kick-off Time, TV Stations That Will Broadcast Match

Nigeria will Saturday (today) trade tackles with South Africa in a Group E top-of-the-table clash of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in Johannesburg. A win for the Super Eagles, who failed to qualify for the last two editions, at the FNB Stadium will confirm their place in next year’s tournament in Cameroon. Bafana, on the other hand, are also hoping to record another win over the Eagles, having shocked the Nigerians with a 2-0 win in Uyo last year.

But Abayomi, has denied being the owner of Instablog9ja and has vowed to sue Linda Ikeji in the coming days. It was learned that no sooner had the news broke out did several board members of Punch gather at the premises of the newspaper on Lagos/Ibadan Expressway for an emergency meeting.
