President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned Service Chiefs to an emergency security meeting over the Boko Haram attacks on Nigerian soldiers, the most recent in Metele, Borno state, northeast Nigeria. Gistlover News had quoted an AFP report, saying the Boko Haram splinter group killed at least 44 soldiers in attacks on three military bases in Borno State, northern Nigeria at the weekend.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Friday vacated the premises of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. All entrances to the complex had been barricaded since Tuesday morning. The Assembly had been cordoned off by armed police personnel on Wednesday following a crisis that erupted on Monday.
