PDP Loses Kwara Bye-Election to APC Right under Saraki’s Nose

Candidate of APC, Raheem Olawuyi, has been declared winner of the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency bye-election in Kwara, the home state of Senate President Bukola Saraki, who is a member of the PDP. Returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Abimbola Adesoji, said Olawuyi polled 21, 236 to defeat his closest rival, PDP’s Saheed Damilare, who polled 18, 095.

Army Kills Top Leader Of Group That Abducted Leah Sharibu

Ahmad Sale, one of the leaders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), has been killed by troops, the Nigerian Army said on Saturday. The group, which is a faction of Boko Haram, is believed to have abducted Leah Sharibu and 118 other Dapchi schoolgirls in February, 2018. A statement from the Army revealed that Sale, the ISWAP media chief, was killed in conjunction with personnel of the Nigerian Air Force.

Atiku To Address Nigerians, Reveals Platform, Day

Presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 elections, Atiku Abubakar, will on Monday commence his campaign. Aregbesola: I Did Not Collect Salary For Eight Years As Governor

Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State has revealed that he does not have a bank account in any part of the world. Speaking on Saturday in Osogbo, the outgoing governor also disclosed that he did not earn salaries throughout the eight years of his administration. He explained that since it was the state that was feeding him, fueling his cars and provided him with accommodation, there was no need for him to receive salaries.

Senator Shehu Sani Kicks Against Atiku’s Plan To Sell NNPC

Senator Shehu Sani (PRP-Kaduna Central) has described Atiku Abubakar’s promise to sell off part of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as “dangerous.” Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had in an interview vowed to sell off 90% of the corporation. Reacting in a post on his Twitter page on Saturday, Shehu Sani said: “Selling 90% of the NNPC as a campaign promise is being brutally frank and honest. “But it is a condemnable proposal and a dangerous intention.”
