1- Why We Want Diezani Back in Nigeria – Magu
The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, says the commission wants former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, extradited because the United Kingdom authorities had failed to charge her to court despite being there since 2015. He said the commission was ready to successfully prosecute the former minister who has been accused of mismanaging oil funds to the tune of $20bn.
2- FG Reveals Names of Nigerians Exempt From Airport Search
Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, says President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo are the only Nigerians exempt from routine search by security operatives at any airport in the country. The minister made this known in the wake of allegation by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that former vice-president Atiku Abubakar was intimidated by security operatives on arrival from Dubai on Sunday.
3- Magu Avoids Question on Ganduje Bribery Video
The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, on Monday avoided questions on whether the commission was probing Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. The acting EFCC boss had invited reporters for a press conference in commemoration of his third year in office. But during the session, Magu was asked to confirm if the EFCC was investigating Ganduje, who was allegedly caught on camera collecting kickbacks from contractors. He simply said, “Next question please.”
4- Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Bans Ohanaeze Indefinitely, Gives Reasons
The self-acclaimed leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, has banned activities of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the South-East region of Nigeria. Kanu placed the ban on Ohanaeze during his Sunday broadcast suspected to have come from Isreal, where he recently resurfaced after disappearing from the glare of the public last year.
5- Teleology Takes Over 9mobile, Names New Board
Teleology Holdings Limited has finally taken over 9mobile, formerly known as Etisalat Nigeria. This comes eleven months after the company made it to the top five firms making a bid to take over the telecommunications outfit.
6- ASUU Strike: No Response from Education, Labour Ministries – ASUU
The President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, says the federal government has not replied the union’s notification of strike action, which it commenced on 5 November. The body of lecturers said it notified the Ministries of Education and Labour and Employment immediately the union embarked on the industrial action. “We wrote to the ministries of education and labour and employment. They signed the copies we gave them, but they have not written to say that they saw our letters,” he said.
7- Gov. Fayemi Discloses Salary, Says Some ASUU Members Earn More
Kayode Fayemi has revealed that he earns N500,000 monthly as governor of Ekiti state, saying that most professors in Nigerian universities earn more than that and as such have fared better under the Buhari administration. The governor was speaking against the backdrop of the current nationwide strike embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
9- Spider Man Creator Stan Lee Dies At 95
The face of comic book culture in the United States Stan Lee has died at the age of 95. Gistlover understands that the co-creator of iconic superheroes like Spider-Man and The Hulk died early on Monday in Los Angeles. It was learned that he had suffered a number of illnesses in recent years.
10- Falcons Spank Ivorian Side Ahead Nations Cup Defence
African champions Nigeria walloped Cote d’Ivoire’s Eleven Sisters de Gagnoa 4-0 on Monday in a tune-up for the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations. Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie and Francesca Ordega gave the Super Falcons a 3-0 lead in the first-half, before they wrapped up the big win in Abidjan, where they are camping for the defence of their title.
