1- Air Force Goes After Boko Haram Fighters As Buratai Relocates To Borno
The Nigerian Air Force has reportedly struck fleeing Boko Haram fighters who attacked a military base in Metele village, Guzamala area of Borno state, northeast Nigeria. Gistlover News understands that the air force carried out the strikes on Sunday in response to the killing of scores of men of the Nigerian army on 18 November, 2018.
2- Buhari Increases Police Salary
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday approved an enhanced salary structure for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a statement said the President gave assurance that his administration will continue paying attention to the welfare and operational needs of the force
3- Federal Govt. Fails To Reach Agreement with ASUU
The Federal Government has again been unable to come to reach a consensus with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over its ongoing nationwide strike. This is coming after federal government and union held a three-hour closed-door meeting on Monday at the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja ended without a resolution.
4- British Govt Reiterates Its Neutrality In Nigeria’s 2019 Elections
The British Government has made it clear that it will maintain neutrality when Nigerians head to the polling units in 2019 to elect new leaders of the nation for the next four years. This is as international agencies in conjunction with local Civil Society Organisations told INEC to device means for Peoples Living with Disabilities (PWDs) to easily participate in the electoral system in 2019.
5- Why I Will Not Probe Fayose – Fayemi
Governor Kayode Fayemi has stated that it is the responsibility of anti-corruption agencies to probe of ex-governor Ayodele Fayose. Speaking to State House correspondents after a meeting with President Buhari on Monday, he stated that there was never a time he said he would probe the immediate past governor.
6- Aregbesola Reveals Why He Didn’t Enjoy His Wife For Eight Years
The outgoing Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, on Sunday claimed that he spent the last eight years as an “absentee husband”. The governor, whose eight years in office will elapse on Tuesday, was jocular about the distance his highly demanding job had on his closeness to his wife.
7- International School Ibadan Reopens After Hijab Crisis
The International School Ibadan has been reopened after it was closed, on November 19, over the use of Hijab by female Muslim students. Some parents had insisted that the use of Hijab was a constitutional right of female children, forcing the institution to close down. However, the school was reopened for academic activities on Monday as security personnel manned entry points in the institution.
8- Dan-Ali Diverting Military Funds For APC Campaign – PDP
The PDP has accused the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, of diverting funds meant for the military equipment and welfare of soldiers to the campaign of the APC. In a statement on Monday by the spokesperson of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party accused the minister of diverting part of the military funds to produce APC’s campaign materials including an electronic memento book, on which he was alleged to have ascribed credit to himself and the APC.
9- Aggrieved APC Members Can Go To Court, Buhari Insists
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday reiterated that any unhappy member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has right to sue the party. Buhari made this known in the wake of the recent threats by the National Working Committee of the party to punish members who took the party to court.
