Football player Sodiq Adebisi dies at the Dipo Dina International Stadium in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, after he allegedly slumped during a training session.
According to information obtained by PUNCH Online, the event occurred on Saturday while the player and other football players were training.
After witnessing the 34-year-old tumble to the ground, it is stated that his teammates hurried him to an Ijebu-Ode state hospital.
On the same day that he was brought to the hospital, Sodiq was declared dead despite the valiant efforts of the medical team.
Our correspondent also discovered that the deceased person’s body had been placed at the state mortuary in Ijebu-Ode.
The event was reported to our correspondent on Tuesday by Omolola Odutola, the state police public relations officer. She also said that Ganiyu Adebisi, the brother of the slain football player, had gone to the Igbeba Police Division to demand that the body be buried.
“The brother came to report the incident at our Igbeba division. The family said they don’t want any investigation and that they wanted to bury the deceased according to Islamic rite,” Odutola stated.
