The lawsuit of Alfred Dabwan of the NNPP against Governor Caleb Mutfwang of the PDP was denied by the governorship election tribunal sitting in Jos, Plateau State, and the petitioner was fined N1.5 million.
Dabwan had asked for the annulment of the March 18, 2023 election in which Mutfwang won due to what he claimed was INEC’s illegal omission of the NNPP log from the ballot.
In a related incident, the National Assembly election tribunal on Monday removed PDP member Peter Gyendeng from his position as the representative for the Barkin-Ladi/Riyom federal seat and proclaimed LP candidate Fom Chollom the victor of the aforementioned election.
Gyendeng of the PDP was declared the winner of the election by INEC, however Fom had objected on the grounds that Gyendeng was not validly nominated as the PDP at the time of the nomination because the PDP had no valid structure.
