The Peoples Democratic Party has urged its supporters in the state’s 13 local government areas to celebrate the victory without causing any problems following the party’s recent victory at the Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
The instruction was stated in a statement that Ibrahim Hamza, the party’s publicity secretary, signed and distributed to journalists in Lafia on Saturday.
The PDP won the election, hence the party’s success at the tribunal did not come as a surprise to them, the PDP spokeswoman claimed in the statement.
He continued by saying that the party’s legal team is well equipped with information and specifics to pursue the case through all stages of the legal system.
Hamza, however, emphasized the need for party members and supporters to maintain composure and enjoy the victory in a way that doesn’t annoy any state citizens.
He continued by saying that because of the party’s propensity for peace, it had instructed its members and supporters to confine their activities to the party offices located around the state and the candidate for governor’s home in order to preserve peace in the state.
“We want to commend the members of the Nasarawa State tribunal for the painstaking attention to details, and the decision that was arrived based on merit of the case, and not allow themselves to be hoodwinked by mere technicalities which the Respondents obviously wanted so badly,” the PDP spokesman added.
The tribunal had ruled that Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, did not win the state’s March 18, 2023 governorship election, but rather Hon. David Emmanuel Ombugadu of the PDP.
