In Borno State, a passenger was killed by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that was thought to have been planted by a terrorist organization to ambush army personnel.
The incident took place along Kareto Road in the state’s Mobbar Local Government Area, counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama said.
Makama said via his X account on Thursday that the car that struck the explosive device was damaged and that five of the passengers were hurt to various degrees.
As a result, soldiers from 5 Brigade Operation Hadin Kai carried out fighting clearance patrols at the scene, where they found the victim’s body and transported the injured people to a hospital in Gubio Town.
Earlier, according to reports, the soldiers exchanged gunfire with the attackers who were skulking around the scene.
Although it was reported that some terrorists had fled the area, there were reportedly casualties on both sides of the conflict that have not yet been officially confirmed.
According to Gistlover, Operation Hadin Kai troops were informed of plans to “attack troops on patrol along major routes to Bama and Mafa LGA” as well as other key locations.
