Around 365 pieces of pawpaw-wrapped cannabis sativa were found in Olodo, along the Abeokuta-Imeko road, in the Abeokuta North local government area of Ogun State, by Nigerian Army Operatives from the 35 Artillery Brigade in Alamala, Ogun State.
On January 6, 2024, the suspect was apprehended by troops while on a routine patrol, according to Brigade Commander Brigadier General Mohammed Tajudeen Aminu, who also gave the 176 kg of cannabis to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Abeokuta.
Represented by the garrison commander, Colonel Legborsi Deedum Nule, Aminu stated that the Brigade will continue to engage with other security authorities to rid the state of crime.
He further emphasized the Brigade’s commitment to making sure that soldiers uphold a high degree of professionalism when doing their duties.
In response, Commander of Narcotics Jane Ibiba Odili, Commandant of NDLEA Ogun State Command, praised the work of the Brigade and advocated for increased cooperation between the state’s security agencies and the armed forces.
