A commissioner and two of the former governor’s aides have resigned from their positions shortly after Governor Rotimi Akeredolu passed away and Lucky Aiyedatiwa was sworn in as the state’s legitimate governor.
Aminu Raimi, the commissioner for infrastructure, lands, and housing; Olawale Abolade, the former governor’s special assistant for photography; and Doyin Odebowale, Akeredolu’s senior special assistant for special duties and strategy, all tendered their resignations on Thursday.
The former commissioner claimed he acted on his conscience in his resignation letter to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, which was provided to our correspondent on Thursday.
The letter read, ” I write to tender my resignation of appointment as Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing with affect from today, 28 December 28, 2023.
“This decision is anchored on my conscience, as my leader and dear boss, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON joined the Saint Triumphant.
“I sincerely thank our dear Arakunrin and the good people of the state for the opportunity to serve in his cabinet as Senior Special Assistant on Lands and infrastructure, Special Adviser on Lands, Works and Infrastructure and Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing.”
