Sources claim that on Sunday, April 25, 2023, two of the Chibok girls who had been held hostage by Boko Haram for nine years managed to escape from the Sambisa forest.
Hauwa Mutah and Esther Markus, respectively from Chibok and Dzilang village, have been named as the escapees.
There are now 96 rather than 98 Chibok schoolgirls who are still being held captive.
Recall that on April 14, 2014, Boko Haram abducted 276 girls from the Government Secondary School in Chibok.
According to Colonel Obinna Ezuipke’s most recent report, 98 Chibok girls are still held captive by Boko Haram, even though 178 of them have been rescued or released.
“One is from Chibok and the other one from Dzilang village. Out of the 276 abducted Chibok girls, 57 girls escaped in 2014 while 107 girls were released in 2018.
“Three girls were recovered in 2019, two in 2021 and 9 were rescued in 2022, bringing the total of 178 girls out of captivity and 98 remaining in Boko Haram captivity.” The source said
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu refuted rumors that his health was deteriorating and assured Nigerians that he is “very strong” in a statement to the press.
There were rumors that Tinubu was rushed abroad for medical attention after leaving the country in a jet and landing in France late at night.
I’m strong and in good health, Tinubu assures Nigerians.
Despite the All Progressives Congress, or APC’s, insistence that the president-elect only traveled to relax and recover from the stress of the election, some stakeholders have questioned his whereabouts and state of health.
On Monday, shortly after arriving in Abuja, Tinubu spoke with a few party members, stressing that he had a good night’s sleep and felt refreshed and ready for the challenge ahead.
Speaking to the crowd who followed him home, the President-elect said:
“I’m happy to be back. I have rested, I’m refreshed, and healthy and I’m ready for the task ahead. Forget about what the rumor mill may have told you. I’m strong, very strong.”
