Umar Ibrahim Umar, an ex-corps member who went viral on the NYSC parade grounds in 2022, has been offered a job and a scholarship.
In 2022, Umar became an internet sensation after a photo of him shouting as a parade leader at his NYSC orientation camp went viral on social media.
Rumors circulated that he had opened a POS business, which Umar categorically refuted at the time.
Umar recently stated to Legit.ng that he plans to launch a POS firm.
Despite initial financial issues, Umar revealed that a successful crowdfunding effort garnered N352,000 to help his entrepreneurial venture.
The movement quickly gathered traction, garnering support from a variety of sources, including former minister Isa Pantami.
“We launched the fundraising campaign on 24th June, posted the story on all social media handles… and just within 24hrs, 80K was raised. It went to a total of 200K+ on the 2nd day. And the 3rd day, 352K was the sum…. that was the day Prof. Isah Ali Pantami quoted the campaign on X App, asking me to contact him privately,” Umar told Legit.
According to Umar, Prof. Isa Pantami not only supported his business idea but also offered him a job and mentorship to support his education.
Additionally, Umar revealed that he had been given a fully funded scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies at any public university in Nigeria.
“2ndly, a fully funded postgraduate scholarship in any public university within Nigeria to forward my studies. And lastly, he linked me to the MD, Alliance Power Generation Company Ltd, to be trained on solar installations, maintenance, etc which will help me pursue my dreams in renewable energy, “ he added.
