Rhema Ahonsi, a University of Lagos undergraduate, is attempting to set a record for the longest singing marathon with the goal of getting his name entered into the Guinness World Record.
Rhema, 27, is aiming to become the first Nigerian to sing for the longest hour. She is joining a number of other Nigerians who are breaking records, a phenomenon that Guinness has never seen before following Hilda Baci’s cook-a-thon record.
Set a GRW for marathon cooking officially registered at 93 hours 11 minutes by the GWR after cooking for a total of 100 hours in May 2023 in Lagos, Chef Baci, who was recently dethroned by Irish chef Alan Fisher, was challenged.
After Hilda’s success, Nigerians unexpectedly took on to the trend, giving rise to celebrities like Chef Damilola Adeparusi and masseuse Joyce Ijeoma, who attempted to break the record for the longest continuous massage by collapsing after more than 50 hours.
