University of Calabar first female SUG president appoints 50 aides

The recently elected President of the Student Union Government (SUG) at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Alims Blessing Iripia, has generated significant attention online following her declaration regarding the appointment of 50 aides to assist her administration.

This announcement, made in a Facebook post on Sunday, August 4, 2024, has sparked extensive discussions across various social media platforms.

Blessing Iripia stated that the choice to appoint 50 aides was grounded in her thorough assessment of their behavior and their ability to make meaningful contributions.

“After carefully examining and assessing the following individuals based on their conduct, credibility, enthusiasm, transparency, and commitment to the Students’ Union Government’s progress and advancement, I am pleased to announce the following appointments for the efficient operation of Blessing_Alims_Led_Administration,” she wrote.

The formal correspondence verifying the appointments, dated August 1, states that the positions will become effective immediately after the Senate’s review and confirmation.

Alims Blessing Iripia, a student specializing in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution within the Department of Political Science, was elected as the inaugural female president of the Student Union Government on June 14, 2024.

@Karen Bush asked: “So what will be her own job, after appointing half of the whole school as aides??.

@Anonymous said: “She is inspired by the nonsense they call politics at the state and national level. Nigeria is officially the country with the worst humans when it comes to leadership at all levels. A common school prefect taking 50 as aides so she could have much of the sug funds to steal. Believe me she is one of those younger ppl look up to in one of these mushroom churches scattered all over. Nigeria is a moral disaster and the open sore of the entire world.”

@ObaiGods said: “50 aides too much for SUG of institution.”

@Dullale Abbas said: “By the time this one becomes a Governor, she’ll have 1 million appointees.”
