Shettima, Nigeria’s Vice President, sparked outrage when he pledged 25 million naira to indigent female students and asked men to go and hustle for their own school fees.
The Nigerian politician and philanthropist was attending a school’s convocation lecture.
During his speech to the students and graduates, he announced a donation of 25 million naira. Kashima stated that the funds are intended to be used to pay the school fees of impoverished female students.
Shettima made the following remarks at the event:
“The men, I am just like you. You can struggle and pay your school fees.”
