A Nigerian pastor named Edward Abiodun Oluwasanmi, who resides in the United States, has been arrested by the FBI for internet fraud.
He is said to have teamed up with Osun monarch, Oba Joseph Oloyede, to defraud the U.S. government of $4.2 million meant for COVID-19 relief.
Oluwasanmi and Oloyede are accused of submitting fake documents to get loans meant for businesses in trouble during the pandemic.
Oluwasanmi used his three companies—Dayspring Property Incorporated, Dayspring Holdings, and Dayspring Transportation—to obtain millions of dollars, which he then misused for personal costs, breaking U.S. federal laws.
In April, a Nigerian pastor based in the U.S. was arrested in Cleveland on 13 fraud charges. He got out on $20,000 bail, promising to attend his trial and face any prison time if convicted.
If he skips court, Oluwasanmi will be taken back into custody.
