US varsity distances itself from tweet shared by its Nigerian Professor about Queen Elizabeth

Recall that earlier, that Professor Uju Anya described Elizabeth as the “Chief Monarch of the thieving raping genocidal empire” and further wished her “excruciating pain”.

Meanwhile the American University has distanced itself from the tweet shared by one of its employees who is also a Nigerian Professor, before Queen Elizabeth’s death was announced.

Reacting to this, Carnegie Mellon University where she teaches shared a statement distancing itself from her comment.

The University which acknowledged that she shared the tweet on her personal Twitter account, also stated that free expression is core to the mission of higher education.

The institution however added that her views does not represent the values of the institution nor the standard of discourse they hope to foster.

Recall that, a Pennsylvania-based Nigerian professor, Uju Anya, on Thursday, traded words with Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos over Queen Elizabeth II.

Uju made some scathing and unbecoming remarks about the British monarch after news broke of her demise.

In a now deleted tweet, she wrote; ”I heard the chief monarch of a thieving raping genocidal empire is finally dying. May her pain be excruciating.”

Bezos, who came across her tweet and thought it was distasteful, made reference to her being a lecturer that is supposed to make the world a better place.

He quoted her tweet and wrote; ‘This is someone supposedly working to make the world better? I don’t think so. Wow.”

But in response, Uju rained insults on the Forbes billionaire, both in Igbo and English language.

”Otoro gba gbue gi. May everyone you and your merciless greed have harmed in this world remember you as fondly as I remember my colonizers,” she tweeted.
