The Nigeria Police Force has arrested prominent social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, only days after his release from prison.
Igwe, the Police Commissioner of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, reportedly ordered VeryDarkMan’s arrest.
In a tweet on Sunday, activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju revealed that VeryDarkMan was detained for reportedly exposing a Nigerian who had cheated someone overseas.
According to Adeyanju, the controversial social media influencer was detained on charges of defamation.
“Our client, @thatverydarkman has just been arrested by the police on the instruction of CP Igwe for exposing someone who allegedly duped a Nigerian abroad.
“Instead of the police to arrest the person alleged to have duped someone, they arrested VDM on allegation of defamation,” he stated.
It should be noted that the critic spent weeks in prison some weeks ago on claims of cyberbullying.
Reacting to VDM’s arrest:
JACOB_EML added: “Lol instead of you to wear wig and coat to appear at the police station you are here giving statements your client is a trouble maker and this what you will keep doing anytime he commits a crime.. talk to your clients to stop interfering into other people’s business.”
