Veteran actor Charles Awurum has criticized Peter Obi, the front-runner for the Labour Party presidency.
In videos posted online, the renowned actor asked the former governor who he was as he observed how he was challenging expectations and upending the status quo.
Charles Awurum emphasized how previous elections had always been rigged and how Nigerians had grown acclimated to election rigging.
For attempting to question what had come to be accepted as the norm in the nation and for upsetting the judicial system, he dubbed him Peter Obi.
“Time dey for laughter. Time dey for bullying folks and talking. This isn’t a laughing matter. I want to ask questions and he must answer me or we go to court. Pete Obi, who are you? See as you scattered election. The election we have been doing and moving to rig. It got to your turn, you want to change it. Who are you? The election was rigged as usual, and now you are shaking everyone.
The small selection that we did, where the norm is to rig and enter any political office you have made people restless. You have even made the Judicial confused they don’t even know if to support the truth”.

2023: ‘I don’t have money but I won’t collect a dime from anybody to vote’ – Charles Awurum
Talented comic actor, Charles Awurum, has expressed his stand on fellow entertainers who are financially influenced to vote for incompetent candidate come 2023 general elections.
In a recent interview, Awurum stated that he is against his colleagues who threw their weight behind politicians.
AWURUM SAID, “IT IS STUPIDITY FOR ONE TO SUPPORT PEOPLE WHO CANNOT IMPROVE THE COUNTRY. PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS KNOW THAT ONE IS DOING IT BECAUSE OF MONEY. I DON’T HAVE MONEY BUT I WON’T COLLECT MONEY FROM ANYBODY IN EXCHANGE FOR VOTING FOR THEM WHEN I KNOW THE PERSON IS NOT FIT FOR THE OFFICE. (FOR ENTERTAINERS WHO SUPPORT SUCH POLITICIANS), THAT IS THEIR BUSINESS. HOWEVER, I THINK WE ALL, AS NIGERIANS, SHOULD COME TOGETHER AND THINK OF HOW TO IMPROVE THE COUNTRY.”
Advising Nigerians to vote the right candidates, come 2023, he said, “Let’s vote the right people into elective offices. When we vote the right persons, we will be able to hold them accountable. And, if they don’t do what the people want, we would change them. More people need to be part of the system.”
The actor also noted that though skit makers are increasing in numbers, they cannot phase out conventional actors. He said, “I cannot be phased out. What I have is God’s gift; it is not possible (for me to be displaced).”
He just want to catch fun
