Rita Edochie, a Nollywood veteran actress, has visited the ill actor Mr. Ibu, who recently had his leg amputated.

On Monday, after learning of her colleague’s leg amputation, Rita posted a video of herself at the hospital with Ibu’s wife, Stella Maris Okafor, who expressed her gratitude for the actress’s visit.

Rita can be heard in the video praying for the actor and his family, with Ibu’s wife constantly answering with “Amen” to her supplications.

Captioning the video, Rita Edochie wrote: “I went to see Ibu John Okafor at Evercare Hospital Lekki Phase 1. He is doing well but all we owe him is to keep praying for him.”

On October 31, Ibu’s daughter Jazmine shared that the actor’s condition had shown improvement following five successful surgeries.

However, on Monday, November 6, Jazmine disclosed that the actor had to undergo the amputation of his leg after a total of seven surgeries.

The comic actor marked his 63rd birthday at an undisclosed hospital in Lagos on Tuesday, October 17. In a video shared on Instagram the following Wednesday, he candidly expressed his need for financial assistance to prevent the amputation of his leg.

On October 21, news broke that the Bukola Saraki Foundation had stepped in to cover the ailing actor’s medical expenses.

This turn of events occurred following a video posted by Ibu’s wife, Stella Maris, in which she alleged that the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) had falsely claimed to be assisting her husband. The guild’s Director of Communications, Kate Henshaw, promptly refuted this claim, asserting that the AGN had indeed been providing support to Mr. Ibu.
