Convicted Internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas Igbalode, aka Hushpuppi has been seen in a trending video having a chat with a friend from behind bars.
The footage surfaced on the internet after he was sentenced by a United States District Court for the Central District of California.
On Monday, the court sentenced Abbas to 11 years and 3 months in prison for fraud. The social media personality was also ordered to pay $1.7m in restitution to two victims.
Justice Otis D. Wright II sentenced Hushpuppi for money laundering conspiracy through several online scams and flaunting of a luxurious, crime-funded lifestyle on social media.
In the trending video, Hushpuppi was FaceTiming a friend while in prison and he talked about his appearance.
It seems to have been recorded weeks before the commencement of his trial.
He said that he was making an effort to look good so that he will not offend the judge and his friend kept laughing.
