Victor Osimhen, a Nigerian player, sparked internet responses on Wednesday, February 29, after a video showing him mending his opponent’s goal net during Napoli’s match against Sassuolo went viral.
Napoli won comfortably 6-1 over Sassuolo, with Osimhen scoring three goals.
Andrea Consigli, Sassuolo’s goalkeeper, accidentally damaged the net while attempting to stop a Khvicha Kvaratskhelia shot in the first half.
The game was briefly interrupted when Osimhen moved into the opposing box to assist in mending the net with tape. Osimhen went on to score two goals following this performance, in addition to his first-half goal.
