The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will announce the results of the 2023 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) on August 7, 2023 (today),.
Results will be revealed today, Moyosola Adesina, head of the examination body’s public affairs unit, confirmed to Premium Times on Sunday.
Hope is raised for individuals seeking admission to post-secondary institutions by the impending release. The required SSCE results were not included in many applicants who sat the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), claiming they were awaiting the results.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) held the UTME in May while various academic schools started their admissions processes.
The SSCE was held from May 8 to June 23, and 1,621,853 candidates from 20,851 government and private schools registered for it.
In May, Patrick Areghan, the head of Nigeria’s WAEC office, stated that the results would be released “45 days after the conduct of the last paper.”
He further noted that the grading for the 76 subjects, which included 197 papers, was completed on August 1.
Areghan continued by saying that the majority of examiners finished their marking a few days ahead of schedule.
