The statewide rallies have reached a fever pitch, with resentment simmering over Nigerian celebrities’ silence amid the country’s economic hardship.
Tension rose throughout Nigeria on Thursday as the long-awaited #EndBadGovernance rallies erupted in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Today, August 4, 2024, is the fourth day of the “#10DaysOfRage” – a nonstop protest against the status quo.
In the middle of this tense atmosphere, a viral video has swept the internet. It depicts a raging throng of demonstrators hurling insults at celebrities who have notably kept silent, refusing to speak out in this fight for economic justice.
The outraged people did not hold back. They called for a digital reckoning, pledging to unfollow and cut relations with any celebrity who has ignored their situation and failed to speak out or show sympathy on the streets and social media.
The demonstrators’ rage is obvious as they accuse these celebrities as self-serving crooks who have abandoned the same people who propelled them to stardom. They are encouraging others to join in the boycott.
