Notwithstanding the state’s limited finances, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa made suggestions that the government would make sure the wellbeing of the employees would come first.
During the yearly prayers held by state employees to welcome the New Year, the governor expressed gratitude to labor unions for their backing of the administration.
In an effort to create an effective public service for the twenty-first century, Aiyedatiwa pledged to provide working tools, training and retraining, timely salary payments, promotion, regular elevation, payment of wage arrears, and more.
“We will forge ahead with the approval given for the recruitment of health workers as a way of strengthening the health sector while filling of vacancies will be done as the need arises,” he said.
As the people of the state get ready for another governorship election, Aiyedatiwa encourages civil workers to be vigilant and avoid party politics, and she urges politicians to stop viewing elections as win-or-lose situations.
He pledged to welcome investors and said, “This is an election year; let everyone know that the peace of the state is not negotiable and the election is not a do or die affair.”
Pastor Kayode Ogundele, the head of services, praised the governor for his unwavering support of state policies that impact public employees.
He gave Governor Aiyedatiwa a vote of confidence because he is worker-friendly, particularly when it comes to regular promotions with pay, providing palliative care equitably to lessen the impact of the removal of fuel subsidies, paying the N35,000 wage award, presenting exotic cars to thirty permanent secretaries, and other welfare benefits.
