An assassination attempt targeting Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump occurred on Sunday, September 15, while he was engaged in golfing at his course in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The FBI announced this incident in a statement on the same day, indicating that an investigation is currently underway.

According to law enforcement officials, Secret Service agents observed and fired upon an armed individual concealed in the bushes near the golf course’s property line, situated a few hundred yards from Trump’s location.

The assailant abandoned an AK-47-style assault rifle and other items at the scene before fleeing in a vehicle, but was subsequently apprehended.

This incident follows closely on the heels of a shooting at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania two months prior, where Trump sustained a minor injury to his right ear.

The individual involved has been identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, from Hawaii, as reported by CNN.

In other news, Actress Eniola Badmus has expressed her support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic plans, highlighting a fall in imports and a rise in exports as signs of economic growth.

On her Instagram story, she shared statistics showing a trade surplus of over N14 trillion in just eight months.

She described this as a “nice change from consumption to production.”

She wrote: “For the year-to-date 2024, our imports were N24.44 trillion, while our exports stood at N38.59 trillion. This gives us an unprecedented trade surplus of over N14 trillion in just eight months.

“It has never happened in Nigeria. Never. This is a refreshing shift from consumption to production.”

However, her review occurs amid widespread challenges and inflation in the country, as millions of people rallied against the deteriorating economic conditions in August.
