Contrary to early assertions, police in Abuja have categorically denied any participation in the arrest of Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, a renowned social media activist known for his critical stance.
Recently, there has been talk on social media about VeryDarkMan’s allegedly arrest by police personnel in Abuja.
In a widely spread video, VeryDarkMan’s legal representative stated that the social media critic’s arrest was initiated in response to a petition previously made by Tonto Dikeh, actress Iyabo Ojo, and singer Samklef.
He stated that these persons petitioned several law enforcement authorities in Abuja, prompting the activist’s summons.
On Tuesday, a group of young people organized and held street protests calling for VeryDarkMan’s release.
In response, Josephine Adeh, an FCT police spokesman, indicated in a recent interview with TheCable Lifestyle that the agency was “unaware of VeryDarkMan’s arrest.”
“FCT police command is not responsible or aware of any of such person’s arrest,” she said. The activist, who is very active on Instagram, has also been noticeably quiet in the past four days.
Cubana Chief Priest, the nightlife promoter, expressed his support for VeryDarkMan, saying his arrest “signifies a process every activist must go through”.
“As an activist, you must pass through this kind of process @verydarkblackman enjoy the process bro, the end justifies the means. This is what you have always wanted, always ready to prove a point regardless. the only man I know that comfortably rejects money,” he wrote on Instagram.
“It’s well, No pain no gain. One thing is for sure darkness can never overcome light. See you at the top soon Legendary. All of us great people have passed through this very process. Stand strong brother man police is our friend.”
