“Who are you to advise us” – Actor Yul Edochie faces criticism for advising Nigerians not to protest

Nigerian actor Yul Edochie has faced backlash from social media users after asking Nigerians not to protest the country’s economic hardships.

On July 19, 2024, the controversial actor came to Instagram to tell Nigerians to be patient and continue speaking out rather than protesting.

“I acknowledge the hardships. Protest is not the answer,” he wrote, “People take advantage of protests to break into other people’s shops, steal, destroy properties, hurt and kill innocent Nigerians who are already going through a lot. In the end, the aim of the protest will be defeated. Remember what happened during End Sars.”

“Protest is not the answer. Let’s be patient. Let’s keep speaking out and doing all we can to help out. President Tinubu listens and he’s doing all he can to put make things right. Fellow Nigerians, let’s be patient. YUL EDOCHIE,” the actor urged.

His counsel, however, was met with widespread disdain from his fans, as well as harsh criticism from Instagram users.

An angry follower stated, “When they call exemplary leaders so you go raise hand?? Who are you to advise Nigerians?? We all know this your post is motivated and powered by stomach infrastructure. Go and pay your children’s school fees first before you come here and give advice nobody is asking for. Shush.”

“You’re funny, sir. Have you considered comedy?” Another person remarked sarcastically.

Another Instagram user wrote, “How on earth did this boy we loved back then take a turn into this big fool? Is that how the can fly? Let some of his close pals advise him to stay mute for just a month nah.”

“With all due respect, Mr. Yul Edochie, may God punish you for saying this,” another user stated angrily.

In other news, Wellington Phiri, a Zimbabwean man, went to great lengths to disguise himself in order to catch his wife at her lover’s house.

The husband, identified as Chegutu, went to his neighbor’s house, where he believed his wife Prisca Mhuru and her lover were, and decided to steal his wife’s personal belongings, including her headscarf and bra.

However, the man’s plan did not work out as expected. When he arrived there and knocked on the door, her lover confronted him.

Despite the disguise, he identified the woman’s husband. He then shut the door and threatened the man with an axe, making him flee for his life.

The man who narrated the incident in a chat with H-Metro said; “My neighbour has wrecked my marriage. I learned that Mabhayo was accommodating my wife in his bedroom since he is single.

“I dressed myself like a woman and visited Mabhayo’s house, knowing he had a weakness for women. His dog tried to scare me, but I kept knocking until he attended to me”.

“After noticing it was me, he locked the door while my wife was inside, took an axe, and threatened to kill me, so I ran away,” Phiri said.
