Tems, the talented musician, has opened up about her incarceration in a Ugandan prison in 2020, describing it as a positive experience in disguise.

Alongside Omah Lay, she was apprehended by Ugandan authorities for purportedly flouting COVID-19 protocols following their performances at a concert in Kampala.

Fortunately, they were released from prison a few days later, thanks to the intervention of the Nigerian government.

In an interview with ES Magazine, Tems mentioned that the experience was an honorable one that taught her humility.

It was a direct message from the renowned American-Barbadian singer, Rihanna, that made her fully comprehend her star status.

During an interview with the well-known YouTuber, Korty EO, Tems revealed this enlightening experience.

The host asked: “At what point did you realise that you’ve become successful?”

Tems replied: “I knew I’d blown and gone far when I got a DM from Rihanna.”

Tems co-wrote Rihanna’s Black Panther2 soundtrack, ‘Lift Me Up’ last year.

Earlier this year, Rihanna expressed a desire to collaborate with Tems and Ayra Starr on a song.
