The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on Friday reiterated his intention to remain active in politics.
The media aide to the Vice President, Laolu Akande in a statement released on Friday said Osinbajo stated this in a virtual meeting with “representatives of the Diaspora Professionals for PYO”
This is coming weeks after Osinbajo lost the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress to the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu.
Osinbajo came third in the primary, which saw the former minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi emerge second in the ruling party’s presidential primary.
There were expectations that the Vice President would take over from his principal, President Muhammadu Buhari at the end of his tenure in 2023.
According to Akande, Osinbajo said if God gives him the opportunity, the change will be swift and will make a real difference.
The statement reads, “I intend to stay very actively engaged in the politics of our country, because I believe strongly that, if God gives us that opportunity, the change will be swift and we will make a real difference.
“We must continue to push. If we give up and say let’s see how it goes, we will be much further back than where we started from.”
