Gucci Mane, a famous rapper and recordexecutive from America, recently discussed the large number of artists signed to his 1017 label who are currently incarcerated.
He shared his thoughts on this matter during an interview on his wife’s podcast, “All Things Keyshia Ka’Oir.”
When asked by the host, “The street wants to know why all your 1017 artists keep going to jail.”
Gucci Mane replied:
“Well, that was how I was going back and forth in jail. I try to help those artists that I see a lot of myself in [them]. I feel like if I’m not helping them, who else is going to help them? Nobody sees that part of the story.”
Mane emphasized that these individuals have compelling stories to share, shaped by their experiences in the trenches.
He believes that his own experiences as an ex-convict enable him to relate and offer support.
“They definitely have a story to tell. They come from the trenches. I want to help. I feel like I can relate to them. I know what they got going on.”
Three 1017 artists, Pooh Shiesty, Foogiano, and Young Thug, are currently serving different jail terms.
