The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership has expressed interest in welcoming Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 presidential election, back into the party as its has started working to make amends with disgruntled members.
In addition, the Daily Independent article stated that the PDP disclosed this on Monday, December 11, at a news conference in Lagos state, while discussing internal party matters.
Speaking on behalf of the PDP mainstays, Bode George insisted that the party’s presidential ticket should go to a candidate from the south since that is the only way the All Progressives Congress (APC) can be defeated.
George maintained that since the LP lacks the organizational capacity to win national elections, Obi had to think about going back to the
He said: “The Labour Party doesn’t have the root. The LP was a movement; they don’t have a solid root. LP came out of anger, it doesn’t have the kind of root we have. LP is a wind. Where was Obi? We can still talk to him if he wants to.”
According to Gistlover, Bode George cautioned party members planning to nominate a candidate from the north for the PDP in the 2027 elections to abandon the notion by Monday, December 11.
George declared that the PDP would be sent to the “dustbin of history in 2027” if such a strategy was successful.
However, he pushed the PDP elders to uphold the party’s constitution and put aside their own interests.
