“Why record labels aren’t always to blame for disputes with artists” – Rapper Odumodublvck

  • Rapper Odumodublvck challenges the common narrative of artists as victims in ongoing conflicts between artists and their record labels.
    • In an interview with Hip TV, he highlighted that disputes often stem from personal differences between artists and label executives, rather than systemic issues within the industry.
    • The rapper emphasized that human traits can sometimes lead to misunderstandings and conflicts in business relationships.

Rapper Odumodublvck has shared his insights regarding the ongoing tensions between artists and their record labels, asserting that the prevalent narrative of artists as victims is not always justified.

In a recent discussion with Hip TV, he emphasized that many conflicts stem from personal disagreements between artists and label executives rather than from systemic flaws within the industry.

He highlighted that business relationships are shaped by human characteristics, which can occasionally result in misunderstandings and disputes.

Odumodublvck warned against depicting record labels as antagonists, pointing out that some artists may make excessive demands and become challenging to manage once they achieve success.

He urged artists to acknowledge the investments and efforts that their labels contribute to their professional development.

While he recognized the difficulties posed by artists, the rapper also noted that record labels are not blameless, advocating for a fair and equitable approach to resolving industry conflicts.

”Everybody must be accountable. It’s not a record labels are bad situation…There are things artists don’t come out to say during this conflict”, he said in part.

Odumodublvck’s remarks come in the wake of the recent controversy involving Dapper Music and its former artists, Shallipopi and Muyeeez, who ended their contracts, alleging a lack of financial transparency and unfair business practices. The label has since refuted these claims.
