Muyiwa Adejobi, Police Force Public Relations Officer, has explained why crossdressers in Nigeria cannot be detained or prosecuted.
During an appearance on Channels TV, the PRO was asked how the police are dealing to Nigeria’s crossdressing epidemic, which has involved people such as Bobrisky, James Brown, Jay Boogie, and others.
According to Muyiwa Adejobi, certain situations are incredibly difficult to prove. Using rape as an example, he stated that there are multiple aspects that must be established, and failure to prove one of them might result in a case being rejected in court.
He believes you cannot arrest someone you intend to prosecute unless you have credible evidence against them.
He went on to say that, to the best of his knowledge, crossdressing is not illegal in Nigeria, but the claims against crossdressers are based on natural offences that must be proven with reliable proof.
