A Nigerian woman named Nneka Obani has cautioned women against feeling special when an ex-boyfriend or husband returns to their lives.
She expressed this sentiment on Friday, following a Facebook story from Mercy Kalu Ebe, who was left by her husband after years of financial backing.
Mercy’s husband had traveled abroad for 12 years, and they only got back together after his deportation.
“No man attempts to go back to a woman he initially abandoned if she is doing badly. The only reason he tries to crawl back into your life is if he sees you have made some serious progress in his absence,” she wrote.
“So don’t feel flattered if an ex husband or an ex boyfriend suddenly wants you back especially if you are no longer in the spot where he left you.
“There are two things involved;
“It’s either he is coming back to dig gold or identify with a success that he had no stake in. Or He is coming back to you because you are the only one who can tolerate his bad behavior. He must have tried with countless women and they have rejected him, so he decided to return to you. You are not special.”
