Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media for Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has denied reports that Wike collapsed in Abuja.
Rumors on X (formerly Twitter) claimed that Wike fainted during an event on Friday and was taken to an undisclosed hospital.
Olayinka responded to these allegations by stating they are “fake”.
This false information comes at a time of increased political tension in Rivers State, where a power struggle is taking place between the suspended Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and Wike, his former ally.
The situation escalated on Friday when George Nwaeke, the former Head of Service, made new allegations against Fubara, intensifying the political conflict.
Wike’s camp has assured that he is healthy and active, despite the circulating rumors.
