Nyesom Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and current minister in the FCT, has been named one of Africa’s “100 Most Notable Peace Icons.”
According to Gistlover, the Organiser published a list of Africans on its website on Wednesday that included Tony Elumelu, chairman of the UBA Group, and singer 2Baba, among others.
Boss Mustapha, a former federation secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, Imaan Ibrahim, Femi Otedola, Stephen Akintayo, Farouk Khailann, and Amina Mohammed, the deputy secretary-general of the United Nations, are other Nigerians who made the list.
Pastor Jerry Eze, a clergyman, Tosin Eniolorunda, Daniel Moses, Mohammed Dewji, Mesfin Bekele, AIGP Aishatu Baju, Gabriel Aduda, Tein Jack-Rich, and AIGP Aishatu Baju. The list also included Rita Dominic of Nollywood and Oluwatosin Olatujoye.
Kinsley Amafibe, the director of the Africa project for the 100 Most Notable Peace Icons in Africa, congratulated every Nigerian who made the list.
He claims that Africans from a variety of backgrounds who have worked to promote peace on the continent by using their skills, positions, and resources are the peace icons.
Other Africans who have contributed to peace-building on the continent will be identified and honored in later editions of the peace-building roll call, he said, adding that the list was not all-inclusive.
