Will Smith farting on set caused film crew to be evacuated for three hours – Director spills

  • Barry Sonnenfeld, an American filmmaker, has revealed that a film crew was evacuated for three hours due to flatulence caused by actor Will Smith.
    • The 1997 Men In Black director claims that Oscar-winner Will’s severe wind caused a three-hour evacuation of the entire film set.
    • The director reported an incident involving Smith and co-star Tommy Lee Jones in a transforming car, which necessitated their ‘hermetically sealed’ pod.

American film director and producer Barry Sonnenfeld has disclosed that a film crew was forced to evacuate for three hours due to flatulence attributed to the well-known actor Will Smith.

The director of Men In Black, who collaborated with Smith in 1997, asserts that the Oscar-winning actor once emitted such a significant odor that the entire film set had to be cleared for three hours.

Sonnenfeld recounted that the incident occurred while Smith and his co-star Tommy Lee Jones were situated in a transforming vehicle that necessitated being ‘hermetically sealed’ within a pod.

He elaborated, “There are locks to prevent it from opening and falling. I say, “Roll camera,” and I hear Will Smith go, “Oh Jesus, so sorry. Tommy, so sorry. Baz, get the ladder.” And you hear Tommy saying, “That’s fine, Will. No worries, Will. Don’t worry, Will.” Anyway, I don’t know what’s gone on, right?.”

Barry further explained, “So we race the ladder over, Tommy reaches his leg out as the ladder is coming over, and races down the stairs. And what happened was, Will Smith is a farter.”

He added, “It’s just some people are. And you really don’t want to be inside a very small hermetically sealed space with a Will Smith fart.”

‘You don’t even want to be sitting next to him at the Disney ranch,’ he stressed.

These remarks were made during his appearance on the podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa.

Men in Black ultimately became the third-highest-grossing film of 1997, earning $584 million globally.
