Popular Nigerian comedian and preacher, Woli Arole (born Bayegun Oluwatoyin), has added his voice to the growing reactions surrounding the reported collapse of CBEX, a digital asset trading platform.

As previously reported by GistLover CBEX has been making waves on social media X (formerly known as Twitter), after allegations surfaced that the platform had misappropriated over ₦1.3 trillion from its investors, leaving many people financially devastated.

The platform’s purported downfall has ignited widespread outrage, mockery, and sorrow across Nigerian social media, with users sharing videos and comments detailing their personal experiences.

The incident has reignited conversations about Nigerians’ vulnerability to fraudulent investment schemes, with content creator and lawyer Timi Agbaje discussing the legal framework surrounding Ponzi schemes and their promoters in Nigeria.

Woli Arole took to his social media account to express his disappointment, criticizing those who fell for CBEX. He reminded Nigerians of the previous Ponzi scheme collapse, MMM, which wiped out the savings of many in the past.

The preacher specifically addressed Christians who participated in CBEX, urging them to use discernment. He shared his concerns about how some individuals in the Christian community invested in the platform without seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit.

“How can a Christian or pastor lose money to CBEX? Where is your discernment? As believers, we should always seek the guidance of the Holy Ghost before making decisions,” he wrote in his post.

Woli Arole’s cautionary message to Christians who were involved with CBEX has sparked further discussions on the importance of discernment and wise investment decisions within the faith community.
