In Kusa village in the Musawa local government area of Katsina State, bandits ambushed a procession of Maulud celebrants, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries, including women and children.
Eighteen people in all were impacted; some were admitted to the Musawa General Hospital and others to the Katsina Orthopaedic Hospital for the purpose of extracting bullets.
Around 11:05 p.m. on Sunday, the bandits started shooting at the parade; many people were also taken from the site.
It was learned that the attackers had left the area prior to the security personnel showing up.
The State Police Command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the report to media representatives, stating that there were 18 victims in total.
“They were evacuated to the hospital for treatment. Later on, two among them died. Further investigation is ongoing for possible arrest and to bring the perpetrators of these acts to justice,” the PPRO stated.
