“You could strip me of everything I have, I will walk away with a smile. It’s not on me, it’s in me. All love”.

IVD has been charged with the murder of his wife, Bimbo [Details]

Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD, was arraigned before Justice Nicole-Clay of a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja on Monday, March 20, for the alleged manslaughter of his late wife Abimbola, who died in a fire incident at their residence in the state’s Lekki area in October 2022.

In suit No. LD/21055C/23, the Lagos state government charged IVD with one count of involuntary manslaughter. On Monday, March 20, the prosecuting counsel, Adeshola Bello, told the court that there was a mistake in the date the alleged offence was committed.

We have October 10 on file, but the date was October 12,” Bello explained.

The prosecution counsel then requested that the court grant the prosecution permission to make an amendment, which the court did. He told the court that the alleged offence violated Section 229 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.

IVD pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him. Victor Ogunde, SAN, the defendant’s lawyer, requested bail for him. The judge asked why he was bringing a bail application for the defendant despite the fact that the defendant had been on bail since March 1. The defence attorney responded that the case against his client had a different charge number.

As a result, Justice Nicole-Clay postponed the case’s start date until March 30, May 24 and 25, 2023.
