A video has appeared online in which a Nigerian man criticizes famed Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile for allowing his child to refer to street youngsters begging for help on the streets as “bad boys.”
Two days ago, a video showing Zlatan Ibile and his 3-year-old son Shiloh riding in their car in Lagos went viral online, eliciting conflicting opinions.
In the video, rapper Zlatan Ibile’s son fidgeted when street boys approached their car and hailed his father. When Zlatan asked his kid why he moved away, Shiloh responded honestly, “There are too many bad boys.”
The video, however, elicited a variety of opinions online. While some netizens laughed because they thought it entertaining, others chastised Zlatan for failing to correct his son’s perception of the street boys.
In response to the video, a man who claims to know Zlatan Ibile’s childhood story calls out the singer, emphasizing that the singer was a street boy before rising to fame in Nigeria’s music industry.
He described how he, Zlatan Ibile, and others from Ipaja would go play football at Fela Field, noting that Zlatan was a very broke street boy at the time.
He went on to respond: “How would Zlatan Ibile feel if someone referred to him as a bad boy just because he was a street boy seeking assistance?”
The man criticized Zlatan Ibile’s attitude in the video, pointing out that the same poor people his son referred to as bad boys are streaming his songs.
