Mr. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, member of Parliament has admonished Kaduna Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi for urging President Bola Tinubu to sack Nyesom Wike as Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister.
On Thursday, the cleric posted a video of a more than 14-minute sermon on his official Facebook page in which he called Wike “Satan” after hosting Israel’s ambassador to Nigeria in his office.
The Iman also said in his sermon that President Tinubu will not serve for eight years. However, reacting to Gumi’s comments, Ugochinyere the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Sub) frowned at what he called his hateful messages, saying Wike had done nothing to warrant such remarks by of Sheikh Gumi.
The congressman said calls for wike’s impeachment are baseless and motivated by hatred of Southerners and Christians. If care is not taken, ethnic and religious tensions may arise in the country. He wondered why the security agencies in Nigeria allowed Sheikh Gumi to lose his mind and express his extremist views while Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was illegally imprisoned.
While Gumi said his attacks on Wike will not distract him from the laudable FCT reforms he initiated, Ugochinyere said these latest words and veiled threats by Gumi should not be taken lightly under the carpet by the security agencies and the removal of Wike added that the demand for is baseless.
And it’s humbling at the same time.
