Nigerian artist Spyro has reacted to the comments made by show promoter Paul Okoye, also known as PaulO, who disputed Spyro’s assertion that he did not earn any money during his tenure with PaulO’s record label many years ago.
In a recent interview, Spyro stated that he was under contract with PaulO’s label for two years without receiving any financial compensation. He mentioned that he often had to borrow money from PaulO for various needs, acknowledging that while PaulO is a generous individual, he lacks a comprehensive understanding of record label management.
In response to Spyro’s claims, PaulO presented a spreadsheet detailing the financial expenditures made on Spyro’s behalf during his time with the label, asserting that he invested N12 million in the artist without seeing any returns. Spyro has since countered that the spreadsheet shared by PaulO corroborates his earlier statements, emphasizing that despite PaulO’s kindness, his experience with the label was extremely challenging.
