Yul Edochie advises African parents to avoid flogging their kids for speaking their mother tongue

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has expressed his disapproval of punishing African children for using their native languages.

In a post on his Instagram account, he urged parents to prioritize teaching their children English, emphasizing its significance for effective communication. However, he firmly stated that it is unacceptable to discipline children for speaking their mother tongue.

He wrote:

“Yes, teach children English. It’s important for communication.
But don’t flog them for speaking their mother tongue.
That’s unacceptable.
That’s slavery mentality which Oyibo people stuffed out brains with.
Will a Chinese man or woman ever flog a Chinese child for speaking Chinese
?

Never make your fellow African feel inferior for being African.

If we’re not proud of who we are as Africans & where we come from, we’ll never know where we’re headed”.

In other news, Fashion designer Victoria James, known as Veekee James, has clapped back at a troll who criticized her natural look in a social media post.

After her wedding earlier this year, she shared a photo without makeup, which led to an unkind comment from a follower.

The troll accused her of using wigs and filters, and Veekee responded with a powerful comeback.

“Na filter and wig dey help this woman,” the troll wrote.

In her reply, she highlighted how crucial self-awareness is, encouraging the troll to think about the energy they give off rather than putting others down.

In a later video, Veekee shared more of her views, indicating that the critic’s remark likely came from their own low self-esteem and lack of self-love.

Veekee also talked about her personal battles, admitting she had been sleep-deprived but would not fake her identity. She described herself as gold, powerful, and unyielding.
