Yul Edochie, a well-known controversial Nollywood actor, has joined the rising chorus of Nigerians responding to the ongoing conflict between the Psquare brothers (Peter, Paul, and Jude Okoye).
Peter Okoye has accused his twin brother, Paul, of disrespecting his wife and family, claiming exclusive ownership of songs they developed together, and downplaying his contribution in the group’s success.
The story took a dramatic turn when Peter spilt a bombshell about the mysterious Northside Music, which he said is secretly owned by their older brother Jude and his wife Ifeoma.
Yul Edochie interjected with a provocative comment that has tongues whirling like the dust from this family story keeps whirling.
He addressed people who advocated for brotherly peace, implying that sometimes the only way to attain peace is to create distance, even from one’s own blood.
He wrote in part;
“Sometime peace comes from staying apart, sometime even family members have to be blocked to achieve peace. Sometimes you just have to relate with people from distance to have peace”
“I see people say Rudeboy go & make
peace with your brother, Mr P go & make peace with your brother, I just laugh.
Many people still don’t understand what life is about.
Sometimes real peace comes from staying apart.
Sometimes even some family members have to be blocked to achieve peace.
Sometimes you just have to relate with people from a distance to have peace.
Trying to be close will kill you.
Life is short, especially for men.
Small thing man don fall. Too much stress.
That’s why we have many widows everywhere.
So you have to be intentional about your life.
And life na per head.
Block anybody that needs to be blocked so you can have peace. Don’t look back.
Fight for your yourself. Stay alive. it’s good to see Psquare together. But if they have to stay apart to be happy and alive for us, let them stay apart.
We love them regardless.”
In his candid remarks, Yul emphasized the critical importance of peace in a man’s life, boldly declaring that the absence of peace is a driving factor behind why we see more widows than widowers.
His comment ignited a firestorm of reactions, with a torrent of scathing criticisms from many and a few voices of support. Some derisively labeled Yul as utterly unqualified to dispense advice, given his own messy separation from wife May Edochie, and didn’t hold back from hurling scornful and derogatory epithets his way.
